Good afternoon,

It has been a long half term that seems to have flown by.  We are pleased to see how settled the children are as well as the progress the children are making. We look forward to seeing this continue as we head through to Christmas.

There have been so many highlights this week but I wanted to mention the Chaffinch trip and Reading Museum virtual session.  Both were fantastic and it was great to see the fun and the engagement. Thank you to all staff involved and for parental support.  These enrichment opportunities really bring their learning to life.

Singing within school has been wonderful.  The children are all singing with such confidence and enjoyment and it really has brought a lot of joy to our school this half term.

I wanted to take this opportunity to thank parents for support with our new uniform policy.  The children look smart and comfortable in our new polo shirts.  Please take time over the holiday to ensure that your child has the correct footwear  and winter uniform ready for after half term.  We are keen to use the field for a run as often as we can.  If you wish to provide a pair of trainers to leave at school for this purpose, we would be grateful.

It has been a pleasure to see you all at the Learning review meetings this week. We had great attendance and I am pleased that you know how your child is in school emotionally, socially and academically.  We are here to support in anyway so keep in touch with class teachers if you have any questions or concerns over the coming months.

I am looking to develop a plan for the rest of the academic year to support 'Learn to Earn'.  This involves parents or people from the community coming into talk to a class or the school about their jobs.  If you would be happy to share your experience and answer questions the children may have, we would be very grateful. Please email me if this is something you would be happy to do.  We would love to cover a wide range of jobs for the children to explore and learn more about.

After half term, we have an Inset day on the Monday.  NSsport will run holiday club through the holiday and on the Inset day.  You can book on via their website.  This maybe a popular option with weather as it stands!

After half term we will be selling poppies each morning.  Please come and look at what we have and bring cash.

I finish with a thank you to everyone within our school community for a great half term and I look forward to a busy half term in the run up to Christmas.  Well done to all the children and I wish you all a good week.

With kind regards

Jacquie Vanstone
