Good afternoon,

We started a week with some of our Year 5 children representing the school at a Luckley House football tournament.  A big well done for how well they played and thank you to Mr O'Reilly for organising it and coaching them.

This week has provided great opportunities to celebrate all that we are doing in the wonderful school we are in.  On Tuesday evening governors met in school for a meeting and afterwards had the opportunity to see the new toilets and the sensory pod.  The following morning we had a financial audit which again provided the opportunity to share all of what our school offers within the lovely building and grounds. Last week, I did send out a letter asking if any parents have any DIY/work skills and could help us begin a simple refurbishment of our staff toilets.  I haven't had any response and would love to hear from anyone who may be able to help in any way.

Yesterday most children had their flu spray and were pleased with their stickers.  We are approaching half term and there has been little absence due to illness since the start of September which is great.  It is important to send the children into school if you think they are well enough and we will always be in touch if we think they need to be at home.  Our current whole school attendance is 98% which is fantastic for the children socially, emotionally and academically.

We started the week with football and we are ending it with a match for our girls.  Good luck girls!

Next week, we are looking forward to welcoming parents into school for our learning review meetings.  Thank you to Mrs Bardsley for working so hard to ensure the bookings worked successfully. The meetings will take place in the hall and the side gate will be open. I will be available on both days so if you would like to meet with me as well as your child's class teacher, please email me.

I wanted to finish with a couple of important messages.  Firstly regarding food. If children come out of school with a birthday treat or if you are bringing them a snack, it is important that this is kept sealed until you are off the school site.  We do have allergies within school including one pupil with anaphylaxis due to food allergies.  Staff will remind the children and we are grateful for your support in keeping our school community safe.

The second message is regarding football kit.  We are missing lots of kit so please check at home and return any.

I wish you all a lovely weekend which I think is due to be full of sunshine.

With kind regards

Jacquie Vanstone
