Good afternoon,
I am delighted to take this opportunity to welcome you all back after the summer and to also welcome families who have joined us this week.
It has been a very happy two days! The children have settled into routines and have enjoyed being with friends. Thank you for your support as we transition to a new uniform. The children look really smart in their new polo t-shirts and the children have told me how much they like them. Our new Reception children have amazed us with their calm and confident approach and they already seem assured and happy in school.
Over the summer, NSsport had a successful holiday club. Our guinea pigs also had a lovely holiday with the families who cared for them. Thank you so much to those families. We have completely renovated our toilets near the hall. The children were excited to see them and some of the other changes in school. Miss Thurston has worked hard to create a sensory pod over the holiday. This is a peaceful, calm and reflective space and a wonderful addition to our SEND and wellbeing provision. You may also have noticed that this news update is presented to you on our new website. Mrs Wirth has led some staff training this week and we are getting used to navigating the website. I have updated the calendar so please keep an eye on upcoming dates and we will continue to update it.
One event I would like to share some information on is taking place on 24th September at 2.30pm. This will be an assembly for parents led by the children to share information about how we celebrate children in our school. This will include badges, certificates, leadership roles, our class advocacy work and a new initiative for this year - Junior Duke. This assembly will be followed by a MacMillan afternoon tea and we hope you will stay and support us.
We have taken time this week to refresh and remind the children of our expectations. This first news letter, I wanted to take the opportunity to remind parents of a few points:
- Please do not drive in or out of the staff carpark and please access school along the pedestrian path.
- We do not allow dogs on the school premise for safety reasons.
- Please be considerate of our neighbours and do not block driveways, even for a moment.
- Please do not stop on the zigzags for the safety of all but especially our children.
As always, I thank you for your support and I am looking forward to a great year ahead. Please speak to class teachers if you have any questions or concerns and if they feel I am better placed to support then I will be more than happy to help.
Mrs Gan has asked me to pass on her appreciation for the thoughtful and generous gifts and cards at the end of term. She was sad not to be with us but very touched. We look forward to seeing Mrs Gan and Mrs Dodds as they will still be supporting us and Mrs Gan remains a governor.
